Let it snow!
Not anywhere near our place though. Cold rains early last week meant that snow was coming to the Sierras.
So daddy urgently checked the weather reports to make sure that two things happened. First there needed to be enough precipitation left in the storm to snow in the Sierras enough to leave it on the ground for a week. Second, there couldn't be a new storm in the next week up to a few days after the weekend.
These two things came to pass last week, so we packed up the car and bundled up Lucas to enjoy his first snow!
The roads had been long cleared and the weather was a fairly warm lower 50's for the amount of snow on the ground. Listening to Christmas music while driving down a snowy road lined with evergreen trees put us in the spirit of the season.

Lucas played in the snow, and mommy and daddy had a short snowball fight. Lucas was able to taste some fresh snow, dig a little in the snow, and play a little with a snowball daddy made.

Daddy was also able to take high dynamic range photos of a couple of spots along the way. This is where you take 3 pictures at different exposures and combine them in a computer to make one pretty picture. We went up to Kirkwood to take a family picture like the one at the bottom, but Lucas looked at daddy after he ran back from the tripod instead of at the camera!
We got home safely at 8pm after our short day-trip to the snow. We hope we will be able to see snow again this winter, but even if we don't, it was a wonderful time with memories we will treasure forever.

Nice use of HDR, but you ought to adjust the histogram so it's not so yellow.
