Lucas loves water! Whenever we take him to the Children's Discovery Museum, he spends the longest time in the 4-and-under water area. There is a whirlpool, water wheels, and streams of water that you can suspend a ball on. He always ends up soaked and shivering, but smiling and excited. At first, we put on the little water protection aprons on him, but those things don't work when your little munchkin thinks it's a good idea to stick his head under one of the streams of water.

He loved it so much that Daddy got the idea to have a little water area at home for him to play with. After looking at the expensive and fragile water toys, Daddy decided to make him a little water fountain to play with instead. Streams of water are pumped from the basin using a garden fountain pump from Home Depot through a series of sprinkler pipes. One side goes straight up, and bends sideways for the stream. The other is a blue flexible pipe that can squirt a stream on the waterwheels in the middle of the table. Each side has a red valve that can turn the stream on or off. Lucas loves to put his hand in it and splash it around, and even drink from the spout! The fountain sits in a sand and water play table that has waterwheels and funnels, a rake a shovel and a little boat. Lucas spent the first few minutes of play transferring the sand to the water side by the fistful with his little hands.
